Vital Records

The Vital Records section of the Health Department maintains and issues birth and death certificates in Dearborn County, Indiana. Our records began in 1882, and the open record policy, based upon the 75-year viewing rule, is also available for genealogy research. The State Department of Health Vital Records began in 1907.

Dearborn County Health Department can now issue birth and death certificates from ANY county in Indiana! Please note that this process is new to us and the entire state, and we ask for your patience during this time. If an amendment is needed to your birth certificate, we will have to contact the county where you were born so expect some longer turnaround times.
